crime Baltimore Woman Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison for Sex Trafficking 2025-03-05 A Baltimore woman named Kenika Danielle Leach, 33, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for her role in a sex trafficking operation that exploited women from the Hagerstown area. The multi-year investigation involved several law enforcement agencies and identified 11 victims who were trafficked from Hagerstown to hotels in Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties to perform commercial sex acts. Leach pleaded guilty to felony drug distribution and two misdemeanors related to sex trafficking. arson Baltimore County Man Charged in Semi-Truck Arson on I-68 2025-03-05 R. Silver, a 42-year-old Baltimore County man, was arrested and charged with second-degree arson, malicious burning/fraud and reckless endangerment in connection with a semi-truck arson that occurred in October on Interstate 68 in Allegany County. The fire caused about $50,000 in damage to the 2012 Volvo D13 truck. Investigators said the vehicle's owner and operator had abandoned the truck after it became disabled at the 40-mile marker, just east of Cumberland, and Silver allegedly returned later to set it on fire. hate crime Man Pleads Guilty to Setting Fire Outside Jewish Museum of Maryland 2025-03-05 A. Hashemi, a 66-year-old man from Reservoir Hill, pleaded guilty to setting a fire outside the Jewish Museum of Maryland in what Baltimore Police previously described as a hate crime. Hashemi, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was abusing drugs, was sentenced to 15 years in prison but will only serve the time he's already spent in custody. After his release, he will be on supervised probation for five years and must follow a mental health treatment plan. |
