Man Sentenced to 60 Years for Stabbing Girlfriend's 6-Year-Old Son to Death 2025-03-19A Baltimore man, Alan Geslicki, who stabbed his girlfriend's 6-year-old son to death in 2024 was sentenced to life in prison, suspending all but 60 years. Geslicki was convicted of first-degree murder for stabbing Seron Addison in front of his 13-year-old brother. 'The murder of a defenseless child is one of the most horrific crimes imaginable, and there is no justification for such a heinous act,' said Baltimore State's Attorney Ivan Bates. Protesters Condemn Israel's Airstrikes on Gaza, Demand End to Conflict 2025-03-19A large group of protesters took to Baltimore City Hall following the resumption of the war in Gaza. Early Tuesday, Israel dropped a round of airstrikes on Gaza, effectively ending ceasefire talks and killing more than 400 people, according to Gaza health officials. Protesters, like Jake Ecker, called it a grave day and criticized local and state involvement in the war, saying Baltimore and Maryland send millions of dollars in federal taxes to Israel each year. However, Howard Libbit, Executive Director of the Baltimore Jewish Council, said he's not sure what other choice Israel had to try and push Hamas to come back to the bargaining table and move forward with continuing to release hostages in exchange for some concession Israel would be willing to make. Baltimore Drug Trafficking Organization Dismantled, 33 Indicted 2025-03-18Two Baltimore men, James Brunson and Ernest Hudson, were sentenced for leading a violent drug trafficking organization in Baltimore City. Brunson was sentenced to 20 years in prison, with the first 15 years suspended in favor of 3 years supervised probation. Hudson was sentenced to 25 years in prison, with the first 5 years to be served without the possibility of parole. In a separate case, 33 individuals were indicted following a 16-month organization, facing charges of conspiracy to distribute controlled dangerous substances and firearms offenses. The organization relied on a 'complex hierarchy of suppliers, managers, street lieutenants, and low-level street dealers,' distributing heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine. Three of the suspects were charged with first-degree attempted murder related to shootings captured on camera. Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott credited the city's Group Violence Reduction Strategy for the 34% decrease in non-fatal shootings between 2023 and 2024 and the 74% reduction in teen victims of homicides and non-fatal shootings in 2024. |
