Baltimore Man Charged with Sex Trafficking, Prostitution Crimes in Howard County 2025-03-18

A Baltimore man named Robert Bennett Jr., 27, has been charged with 47 counts of sex trafficking, prostitution, and other crimes. He is accused of operating out of a Howard County motel, arranging prostitution dates for several women, assaulting them, and stealing their money, sometimes at gunpoint. Bennett is also charged with assaulting and robbing a man to whom he gave drugs. Howard County police have an ongoing effort to combat prostitution, human trafficking, and related offenses, and are focused on arresting traffickers and offering assistance to victims.

Leaders of Violent Drug Trafficking Organization Sentenced in Baltimore 2025-03-17

Two men, James Brunson and Ernest Hudson, were sentenced for leading a violent drug trafficking organization in Baltimore. A total of 33 individuals were charged in connection with the organization, with several already sentenced for crimes related to drug distribution, firearms offenses, and participation in a criminal organization. The investigation was part of Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott's Group Violence Reduction Strategy (GVRS).

Suspect Charged in Shooting of Baltimore County Police Officer 2025-03-17

A 27-year-old man named Andrew Britt has been charged in the shooting of a Baltimore County police officer on Thursday, March 13, in a precinct parking lot near the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) campus in Catonsville. Britt is facing two counts of attempted first-degree murder and is being held without bond. The officer, who has not been identified, was released from the hospital on Sunday. Two other officers, Smith and Wright, who returned fire and shot the suspect multiple times, have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
