Native Pleads Guilty to Attempted Murder in Baltimore ShootingNovember 22, 2025A Washington D.C. native pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder and firearm use before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Hope Tipton on Nov. 21, acknowledging his involvement in a shooting that occurred in Southeast Baltimore's Canton neighborhood last December 7. Baisey was one of three suspects involved in the alleged shooting, and was apprehended alongside his 17-year-old co-defendant in Prince George's County after being involved in a hit-and-run incident on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. The victim, a 26-year-old Black man, was allegedly dropped off by someone in a white Honda Accord bearing a Maryland license plate, and exhibited four gunshot wounds across his body. Footage of the incident captured the victim exiting the aforementioned white Honda Accord and walking westbound, when a dark grey Acura with Maryland tags pulled up. Three suspects exited with guns drawn and immediately began firing at the victim as he fled. Baisey has not yet been scheduled for sentencing. Woman Arrested for Stealing Hundreds of Dollars in Merchandise from Retail StoresNovember 22, 2025A woman was arrested for allegedly stealing merchandise valued at hundreds of dollars from retail stores, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office. On October 30, officers responded to a reported past theft in which a female suspect stole over $1,000 in apparel from a retail store at the Festival Shopping Center and immediately fled the scene in a vehicle. Then, on November 8, officers responded to the same store for another reported theft involving the same suspect, authorities said. This time, the suspect stole an expensive kitchen appliance and additional clothing, totaling approximately $600. A few days later, authorities located the suspect's vehicle at a motel in Edgewood and determined that the suspect was staying there. While speaking with authorities, Nechay admitted to attempting to steal $500 to $600 worth of merchandise daily and stated she often would sell the stolen merchandise at gas stations for half price, officials reported. Star Spangled Stories: How Maryland's Oyster Boom Brought Wealth, Violence and GreedNovember 22, 2025The Chesapeake Bay supplied nearly half of the world's consumed oysters by the 1880s, prompting a boom of wealth, greed and violence in Maryland that lasted nearly a century. Pirates from New England sailed south and Maryland and Virginia watermen poached each other. Annapolis tried to enforce order by creating the Oyster Navy, but the Bay's oyster population has never recovered from the Oyster Wars. |
