crime Baltimore Police Report Significant Drops in Violent Crime 2025-07-01 Baltimore police report a considerable drop in gun violence and other violent crimes at the halfway point through the year. The police department on Tuesday released its midyear data for 2025, which shows a 22% decrease in homicides compared to this time last year, and the number of juvenile homicide victims is down 71%. Nonfatal shootings were also down by 19%. The data goes on to show that shooting suspects are being arrested at higher rates, with a homicide clearance rate of 64% and a 44% clearance rate for nonfatal shootings, which is 20% above the department's 10-year average. Other areas that saw significant drops include rapes, which are down by 35%, carjackings are down 15% and assaults are down by 11%.
