Shooting Teenager Killed in Nottingham Shooting 2025-03-10 A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot in Nottingham, Maryland over the weekend. Police have not identified the victim or made any arrests. The shooting happened on Sunday around 8:55 p.m. in the 4300 block of Bedrock Circle. The victim was found with at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward. Legal Maryland Considers Exonerating Accused Witches 2025-03-10 A bill has been introduced in the Maryland state legislature that would exonerate individuals accused or convicted of witchcraft before the American Revolution. The bill acknowledges that the accused and convicted were innocent, as the trials were driven by community panic, fear, and misogyny. The bill would restore the reputations of those accused and provide an apology from the state to their descendants. Crime Lawmaker Seeks Tighter Oversight of Maryland Addiction Treatment Centers 2025-03-10 A Baltimore Democrat is pushing a new bill to improve state oversight of drug addiction treatment centers in Maryland. This follows a series of reports exposing unscrupulous practices by some program operators, where patients ended up in what were effectively government-funded drug houses. The bill would require the Maryland Department of Health to provide yearly updates on their efforts to improve regulation and oversight of these programs. |
