The largest portion of firearm-related fatalities is made up of gun suicides cases, accounting for 58% of all deaths. Non-fatal gun injuries are still common, with more than 84,000 people visiting emergency rooms each year for treatment.

Maryland State Police Lieutenant Arrested for Suspected Impaired Driving 2024-10-27

A longtime Maryland State Police lieutenant was arrested early Saturday morning for suspected impaired driving following a two-vehicle crash, the department said in a news release. Lieutenant Duane Hill, a nearly 20-year veteran currently assigned to the Human Resources Division, was placed on administrative leave with pay following the incident.
