Maryland Man Convicted of Shooting Police Officers 2024-09-28David L., 26, of Maryland, has been convicted of attempted murder, armed carjacking, and firearms charges. The conviction stems from a 39-hour police chase on Feb. 8, 2023, where L. shot and wounded two police officers. L.'s lawyers sought to blame the police for exacerbating a mental health crisis, but the jury found him guilty. L. is awaiting sentencing, and his lawyers plan to appeal the verdict. Assault Victim Dies, Suspect Charged 2024-09-27On Sept. 21, a 27-year-old male was assaulted in the 6300 block of Eastern Avenue in Baltimore. The victim, K. Mejia, later died of his injuries on September 25. A 28-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with first-degree assault. Homicide detectives are working with the State's Attorney's Office to determine additional charges. Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives or use the Metro Crime Stoppers tip line. Wanted Felon Violates Probation 2024-09-27Terrence H., 34, of Baltimore, is wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for a federal probation violation. In 2021, H. was identified as the suspect shot by a Baltimore Police officer during a chase in downtown Baltimore. H. was charged federally and pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison followed by 3 years of supervised probation, but failed to adhere to the terms of his release in July 2024. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. |
